For all the doom and gloom Denver Broncos fans may have felt following Week 1's loss to Oakland Raiders, Sunday's victory over the Cincinnati Bengals certainly has made things better. The same, though, cannot be said for the Kansas City Chiefs, who are now 0-2. They lost safety Eric Berry in Week 1's loss to the Buffalo Bills and now they might be without running back Jamaal Charles after an injury in Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions.
While Charles will have an MRI on Monday to confirm the prognosis, the Chiefs believe the running back has torn his ACL, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. This would be a huge blow for a team that looked to repeat as AFC West champions this season. An 0-2 start already made it nigh impossible for the Chiefs to dream of the playoffs, but losing their top rusher just compounds the problem.
Thomas Jones and Dexter McCluster will carry the load for the Chiefs on the ground now, and they'll need to step up as Matt Cassel hasn't lit the world on fire with his season so far. He has one touchdown pass to four interceptions.

The Kansas City Chiefs are in a deep hole and not just because they are 0-2 to start the 2011 NFL season. No, it's much worse because safety Eric Berry is out for the season with a torn ACL and now running back Jamaal Charles has an injured knee. At times, the Chiefs looked as if they had given up in their 48-3 loss to the Detroit Lions.
Neither Thomas Jones (12 carries, 40 yards) nor Dexter McCluster (8 carries, 51 yards) filled in Charles' missing spot. Charles had two rushes for 27 yards before he hurt his knee by colliding with the Lions' mascot. Matt Cassel threw three interceptions.
Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was outstanding, completing 23-of-39 passes for 294 yards and four touchdown passes. Former Broncos tight end Tony Scheffler caught a 36-yard pass for one of Stafford's touchdowns.
The Oakland Raiders and the Buffalo Bills engaged in shootout in the fourth, but it was the Bills that came out on top, 38-35. The two teams combined for five touchdowns in the final quarter, but the Raiders couldn't come up with the sixth one after Bills wide receiver David Nelson caught Ryan Fitzpatrick's third touchdown pass of the day. Bills running back Fred Jackson picked up 117 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.
The Chiefs fall to 0-2 and the Raiders are now 1-1.
