Broncos' Rahim Moore Receives $20,000 Fine For Hit In Buffalo Game

Four days after Denver Broncos rookie safety Rahim Moore delivered a crushing hit to Buffalo Bills wide receiver Donald Jones, the league fined him $20,000, according to the Denver Post's Lindsay H. Jones. Moore received a personal foul on the penalty and did not return to the game. Jones' head violently hit the ground after he and Moore had incidental helmet-to-helmet contact on the play.

In SB Nation Denver's informal, unscientific poll on the issue, an overwhelming majority of voters believed Moore delivered a clean hit on the play. Moore led with his shoulder while coming at Jones at full speed. It would have been tough for him to pull up short and not hit him.

Jones will miss the remainder of the preseason following his injury. The Broncos and the Bills have a regular season rematch on Christmas Eve this season. Marcell Dareus won't be the only Bills player looking to outshine the Broncos.

(VIDEO) Rahim Moore Hit: Fair Or Foul?

Redrocks_medium

In Saturday's preseason game between the Denver Broncos and the Buffalo Bills, Broncos rookie safety Rahim Moore delivered a crushing hit on Bills wide receiver Donald Jones. Was it a clean hit or did Moore deserve an ejection? Here's the video:

Jones is definitely in a defenseless position when Moore delivers the hit, but he doesn't lead with his helmet. Moore sends his shoulder into Jones before there is helmet-to-helmet contract. Jones then falls to the ground and has his head violently hit the ground.

Bills Vs. Broncos Final Score: Willis McGahee, Brady Quinn Lead Denver To 24-10 Victory Over Buffalo

The Denver Broncos had their preseason game against the Buffalo Bills wrapped up at the end of the second quarter. At halftime, the Broncos led the Bills, 14-3. In the second quarter, Willis McGahee had two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving. He caught a 20-yard screen pass to set up the rushing touchdown and grabbed a 13-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Orton.

Orton went 10-of-13 for 135 yards before he left at the two-minute warning. Brady Quinn entered the game and wound up throwing an interception in the waning seconds of the half. But he recovered in the second half and connected with Britt Davis for a 24-yard touchdown pass later in the third quarter. He finished the night with 10 completions in 16 attempts.

Tim Tebow played late in the fourth quarter, connected on one of two passes and had a seven-yard rush.

On defense, the Broncos were solid in the first half, but Perrish Cox was beat in the fourth quarter for a touchdown. Tyler Thigpen connected with Felton Huggins for a 13-yard touchdown. Von Miller and Marcell Dareus each picked up a sack.

The Broncos (1-1) host the Seattle Seahawks next week. The Bills (0-2) head back to Buffalo for a game with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bills Vs. Broncos Score: Willis McGahee Picks Up Two Touchdowns In 1st Half For 14-3 Lead

Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee is running on all cylinders in Saturday night's game against the Buffalo Bills. He's scored twice to put the Broncos up, 14-3, at halftime. He has a one-yard rushing touchdown and a 13-yard receiving touchdown. He had 20-yard reception on a screen pass that set up his first touchdown.

Kyle Orton went 11-of-14 for 142 yards and a touchdown and played until the two minute warning. Brady Quinn entered the game for his first action, but he wound up throwing an interception on the drive. Brandon Lloyd is the leading receiver with 55 yards on four receptions.

The defense has been strong so far with a Von Miller sack and a D.J. Williams sack. Miller started the game with his hand on the ground and played there throughout the first half. Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has just 44 yards on 6-of-17 passing.

Bills Vs. Broncos Score: Willis McGahee Rushes For TD, Puts Denver Up, 7-3

The Denver Broncos lead the Buffalo Bills, 7-3, after Willis McGahee made a goal line run for he end zone. A 20-yard screen pass to Willis McGahee from Kyle Orton at the end of the first quarter set up the eventual score, though McGahee was denied on his first attempt. Steven Hauschka kicked the extra point.

Orton is 6-of-8 for 78 yards while McGahee's partner in crime, Knowshon Moreno, has 11 rushing yards on three carries. The offensive line has looked like a good unit so far, which Moreno and McGahee will need to succeed.

Rookie Von Miller recorded a sack in the first quarter. Bills rookie Marcell Dareus also has a sack, keeping pace with the No. 2 pick. They will continue to play into the second quarter.

Brady Quinn may see some playing time in the second quarter, but he will definitely be out there in the second half.

Brady Quinn Moves Ahead Of Tim Tebow As No. 2 QB in Saturday's Game Against Buffalo

To mild surprise, Denver Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn has been elevated to the No. 2 quarterback position behind starter Kyle Orton. Tim Tebow will be the No. 3 quarterback for the game. This move has been widely speculated over the last week. Quinn and Tebow have shared second-team reps in practice, but Quinn's performance in last week's preseason game with the Dallas Cowboys played into this decision.

Orton is expected to play most of the first half, if not all of it. Head coach John Fox was coy about the playing rotation after Orton, and it still unknown how much playing time Quinn will receive. Does he get the entire third quarter? Will he play into the fourth quarter? Tebow certainly deserves some playing time as well.

This move should also contain some caution. Though Tebow is the No. 3 quarterback for this game, it doesn't mean that he will move down on the next depth chart release. If Quinn struggles against the Bills' second-teamers, Tebow will look to hold his ground.

Bills Vs. Broncos, Preseason Game No. 2: Quarterback Battle Behind Kyle Orton Continues

The Denver Broncos host their first preseason game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday evening when they play the Buffalo Bills. The Bills held the No. 3 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, one pick behind the Broncos, both teams looking for vast improvement this season. This will be an early taste of their Week 16 matchup on Christmas Eve in Buffalo.

The Broncos lost to the Dallas Cowboys in their first preseason game, 24-23. Kyle Orton completed just 2-of-6 passes, but those incompletions were not forced throws in a vain attempt to have Brandon Lloyd catch them in the end zone. Tim Tebow started off slow before finishing his night at 6-of-7 for 91 yards. Brady Quinn looked good during the second half of the game, leading the Broncos to a touchdown on an Eron Riley reception.

The quarterback rotation after Kyle Orton is uncertain right now. Head coach John Fox didn't commit on the order in which Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn will play. Orton and all the other starters are expected to play into the second quarter of the game. At this point, it looks like Brady Quinn is a challenger to take over the No. 2 spot on the depth chart over Tim Tebow. If Fox is honest about every spot on the quarterback depth chart being open, Quinn certainly needs to show what he can do with the second-string team.

On defense, defensive tackles Marcus Thomas and Ty Warren, both starters in Game 1, are out. Thomas has a strained pectoral muscle and Warren tore his triceps muscle earlier in the week. That leaves Kevin Vickerson and Brodrick Bunkley, both originally first-teamers on the first depth chart, as the starters.

One rookie matchup to follow is between the Broncos' Von Miller and the Bills' Marcell Dareus. While neither will play against each other directly, Dareus wants to make the Broncos regret that they took Miller over him. Miller played one series against the Cowboys; Dareus had a sack against the Bears last week.
