New Bronco Willis McGahee Allegedly Involed In Miami Hurricanes Scandal, According To Yahoo! Sports Investigation

Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee is reportedly a former Miami Hurricane who received impermissible benefits, according to Charles Robinson's investigation into the program.

New Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee has been named in Charles Robinson's investigation of the Miami Hurricanes athletics program for Yahoo! Sports. He is the third former Hurricane currently on the Broncos to have allegedly received impermissible benefits while at the school. The other two are Orlando Franklin and D.J. Williams

According to the Miami booster, Nevin Shapiro, who provided these benefits, all of this took place during the 2002 season. The allegations run from cash gifts to paid, tailored suits. The latter were likely used for McGahee's trip to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony. Shapiro also reportedly paid for McGahee's girlfriend and another woman to visit New York for the trophy ceremony.

McGahee supposedly received $2,000 in bounties for his on-the-field performance. While that one is hard to find evidence for, several sources have supported these allegations. In particular, the owner of the suit shop has reportedly supported the claim that Shapiro paid for the suits.

Like the other Broncos, McGahee has not returned messages over these allegations.
