Kyle Orton Trade Could Come Soon For Denver Broncos

Stay connected for news and updates

With the NFL lockout mere hours from ending, if not sooner, the Denver Broncos will likely start taking phone calls for quarterback Kyle Orton. Many signs during the offseason pointed to the Broncos trading Orton when the time arises, but the NFL Network's Jason La Canfora was the lone holdout on that issue. For months he maintained that the Broncos wanted Orton to be the starter since he gave the team the best chance to win.

But on Sunday, La Canfora changed his tune, as more teams are turning up their interest in him. While rumors are that the Broncos want a second-round pick as a starting point for Orton, he is more likely to draw a lesser draft pick in comparison to what the Philadelphia Eagles will receive for Kevin Kolb, who is considered the top quarterback on the trade market.

Head coach John Fox did say he wants a "gamer" as his starter even while he has Orton at the top of his temporary depth chart. Even if Orton is traded, Tebow would still need to compete with Brady Quinn for the starting job, but is that much of a competition?
