While I am on record as saying that we need to gain some perspective on the successes and the failures of this Denver Broncos draft class, immediate, gut reactions can help tell us what the general mood of the fan base is right now.
Here's a quick rundown on the Broncos' draft selections:
Von Miller, LB, No. 2 Overall Pick - The Johns and Brian Xanders had Miller at the top of their board for some time and took possibly the most explosive defensive player in the draft.
Rahim Moore, S, Round 2 - He's going to stalk center field in the secondary, future replacement for Brian Dawkins.
Orlando Franklin, T, Round 2 - His arrival likely spells the end for Ryan Harris.
Nate Irving, ILB, Round 3 - Will he be able to step into the middle whenever the season starts? Past injuries dropped him.
Quinton Carter, S, Round 4 - Another safety to shore up a porous pass defense in 2010.
Julius Thomas, TE, Round 4 - The Broncos trade back into Round 4 to draft this pass-catching tight end with huge potential. Played basketball for Portland State for four years, too.
Michael Mohamed, ILB, Round 6 - The linebacking corps gained another addition for the move back to a 4-3 front.
Virgil Green, TE, Round 7 - Another pass-catching tight end who needs development. Helped Colin Kaepernick improve draft stock.
Jeremy Beal, DE, Round 7 - Beal was productive at the college level (29 sacks), but how does he transition to the NFL?
