The Denver Broncos traded the No. 36 overall pick in the 2011 Draft to the San Francisco 49ers for the 45th, 108th and 141st picks. That's a nine spot jump by the 49ers to select Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Just one pick earlier, the Cincinnati Bengals selected quarterback Andy Dalton of TCU. Dalton was considered the more likely of the two to to go in the first round.
As a result of the trade, the Broncos now pick back-to-back in the second round with picks No. 45 and No. 46. They now also have a pick in the fourth round and in the fifth, having previously traded them away.
