Nate Solder Drafted By New England Patriots, Will Protect Tom Brady

Stay connected for news and updates

Nate Solder is now a member of the New England Patriots after being selected with the 17th overall pick.. Solder had usually been rated the third-best tackle in this draft behind USC's Tyron Smith (No. 9 to the Dallas Cowboys) and Boston College's Anthony Castonzo, who has yet to be drafted.

Solder will be able to protect Tom Brady soon enough (relatively), but he will need some time to develop. He was a converted tight end and will need to improve his run blocking. But Bill Belichick is a master drafter and knows what he is doing with Solder. He could eventually be the best of all the tackles taken in the first round.
