[UPDATED] Former Bronco Matt Mauck Returns As Team Dentist

Stay connected for news and updates

Former Denver Broncos quarterback Matt Mauck is now a practicing dentist locally in the Denver area, according to Denver Broncos PR man Patrick Smyth.

Back in 2004, the Broncos drafted LSU quarterback Matt Mauck in the seventh round of the NFL Draft, 225th overall. He was a late-round flyer whom Mike Shanahan and the Denver Broncos wanted to see if they could develop as a backup for Jake Plummer. To the best of my recollection, I recall ESPN pointing out that once Mauck was finished with the NFL that he planned to pursue a career as a dentist.

So, Mauck, who had led LSU to an NCAA championship as a junior before declaring early for the draft, spent 2004 with the Denver Broncos. He didn't appear in a game that season and moved on to the Tennessee Titans for the next two seasons. He actually played in two games for them, starting the 2005 season finale.

But Mauck eventually moved on to pursue his career in dentistry by attending the University of Colorado's School of Dentistry. So, congratulations to Matt! Start telling patients your NFL stories.

[UPDATED] Matt Mauck just graduated from CU's School of Dentistry and will be one of the Broncos' team dentists this fall.
