Read More: Mark Barron (DB - Alabama), Devon Still (DT - Penn St.), Jonathan Martin (OT - Stanford), San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs
In Todd McShay's ESPN Insider mock draft, we saw that the Denver Broncos had selected Penn State defensive tackle Devon Still with the No. 23 overall selection. But we can't view a mock draft (or any real draft) in isolation. Where did the Broncos' division rivals upgrade their teams at?
The Kansas City Chiefs currently hold the highest draft pick and are selecting No. 12 in McShay's mock. He sees the Chiefs taking Stanford tackle Jonathan Martin because of impending free agency for Barry Richardson and Branden Albert's tenuous hold on being a tackle in the league. Depending on who is brought in as the new head coach, a quarterback could possibly be looked at, but maybe the team decides between Matt Cassel and Kyle Orton.
The San Diego Chargers select just a few spots later at No. 15. Had McShay not given the Chiefs in this scenario, Martin might have been McShay's selection here (had he not had the Cardinals select him, either). Instead, McShay goes with the best player available (you know, according to him) and has the Chargers grab Alabama safety Mark Barron. He and Eric Weddle in the same secondary might be scary for Tim Tebow, Carson Palmer and whoever is under center for the Chiefs.
The Raiders traded its first round pick to the Cincinnati Bengals in the Palmer trade.
