Rahim Moore Injury: Broncos Safety Sustains Concussion On Game's First Drive

We're only a couple minutes into Sunday's game between the Denver Broncos and the Oakland Raiders, but it only took one play for an injury to occur. On Oakland's first play of their first possession, Broncos safety Rahim Moore took a major shot to the head while defending a Carson Palmer pass, and the team is reporting on its Twitter feed that Moore sustained a concussion during the play.

Moore, Denver's second-round pick from this year, had established himself as one of the team's primary defensive backs. Today he was making his sixth start as a Bronco, but it's likely to be a while before he plays again.

Here's video of the play:

As you can see pretty clearly, Moore's head takes a direct shot from the shoulder of teammate Andre' Goodman before crumpling to the ground. Denver trainers immediately went to tend to Moore, who was showing signs of movement on the ground but clearly looks distraught after the hit.

I don't know about you guys, but this was a hit that made me cringe. Watching Moore take the hit as his neck gives way and his entire head shoots backwards is really one of most horrifying images in the sport. I'd rather watch a guy's arm get bent in half than watch his head get beaten into the ground. We all love big hits, but this was a scary play.
