The Denver Broncos are down, 3-0, to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday afternoon following a 53-yard field goal by kicker Nick Novak. The Broncos were able to stop a charging Chargers offense for just three points, but the running game is already off to a good start. Ryan Mathews had three carries for 32 yards on the drive, including 15-yard run.
Philip Rivers was just 1-of-4 on the drive and constantly harassed by the defensive line. However, Rivers and the Chargers were unable to get deep into opposing territory since Denver came up big on third down on their side of the field. Instead of opting for the punt, the Chargers elected to go for the field goal, which Novak had no issues with putting through the upright.
