Broncos Vs. Chargers Final Score: Tim Tebow Leads OT Field Goal Drive For 16-13 Victory

While the Denver Broncos might not win any beauty contests for the way they play football, the team has found a winning formula, as they rallied for a 16-13 OT victory over the San Diego Chargers. With the win, the Broncos have now won four straight games and moved one game behind the Oakland Raiders in the NFC West.

In a back-and-forth OT, the Chargers had a chance to win, but Nick Novak missed a 53-yard FG attempt that would have won the game. With the Broncos having excellent field position following the miss, they drove down the field to setup Matt Prater for the game-winning 37-yard field goal.

As they have throughout the winning streak, the Broncos relied on a dominant rushing attack to earn the win. Willis McGahee led the way on the ground, rushing for 117 yards on 23 carries. Tim Tebow added 67 yards on 22 carries and also threw for 143 yards.

Although Tebow and the option attack have garnered much of the attention, it was the Broncos defense that led the way in this victory. In the past five weeks, the Broncos defense has held all of their opponents under 17 points and has been truly dominant. While Ryan Matthews was able to rush for 137 yards, the Broncos limited Philip Rivers to only 188 yards passing.

Denver will look to extend its winning streak to five games when it visits the Minnesota Vikings. San Diego will hope to end its six-game losing streak when it visits Jacksonville for a Monday Night Football matchup.

Broncos Vs. Chargers Score: Matt Prater Ties Game At 13 With Key Plays By Tim Tebow, Erick Decker

Tim Tebow just has that late-game magic in him. This time he led the Denver Broncos to a score inside the final two minutes of the game, tying the game at 13.

It actually started with about 5:30 left on the clock and got that far with a big 39-yard catch by Eric Decker to put the ball into San Diego Chargers territory. Two plays later, tight end Dante Rosario came up with a key 23-yard reception to bring the ball to the 12-yard line. The drive ultimately stalled, but Matt Prater was able to kick the 24-yard field goal to tie the game.

Ninety seconds or so remain in the game. Will the Chargers be able to win this or will the game head to overtime?

Broncos Vs. Chargers Score: Matt Prater Kicks 41-Yard Field Goal, Puts Denver Down, 13-10

The Denver Broncos had their offense stall inside San Diego Chargers territory late in the third quarter. Matt Prater kicked a 41-yard field goal to cut San Diego's lead to 13-10.

On the Broncos' previous drive, the team went three and out after having three straight plays go for negative yards. But this time, Tim Tebow and company drove from their own 20-yard line before being stopped at San Diego's 23-yard line. Willis McGahee had a 21-yard run to start the drive, but a 14-yard pass to Matthew Willis during the middle of the drive proved instrumental.

On 3rd-and-5, Tebow found Willis with little separation but threw it to him anyway. The reception put the Broncos at the 28-yard line, but a Tebow sack and two positive yardage plays on the ground brought the team to fourth down. Prater followed up with the field goal.

Broncos Vs. Chargers Score: San Diego Offense Sputters But Kicks Field Goal For 13-7 Lead

The Denver Broncos defense stopped the San Diego Chargers from finding the endzone on the team's first offensive drive of the second half, but Nick Novak kicked his second field goal of the game to put the Chargers lead at 13-7. A costly penalty by Lance Ball on the fourth down punt gave the Chargers better field position after the second punt, providing a short field to work with on the ensuing drive.

Philip Rivers opened San Diego's drive by connecting with Vincent Brown for a 30-yard gain, putting the team at Denver's 25-yard line. Quinton Carter gave Brown enormous room on that play. Rivers and Antonio Gates had several  pass-and-catch plays on the drive, but they ultimately fell short of the endzone. Novak kicked a 25-yardfield goal for the 13-7 lead.

Broncos Vs. Chargers Halftime Score: Tim Tebow Finds Eric Decker, Cuts San Diego Lead To 10-7

The Denver Broncos had to wait until the final two minutes of the first half to finally get on the scoreboard. Taking advantage of a 43-yard San Diego punt, Eddie Royal brought the ball to the San Diego 46-yard line on the return. On the ensuing drive, the Broncos got lucky after Daniel Fells caught a 19-yard pass from Tim Tebow and then fumbled it. The Broncos came up with it in the scramble and then gained six yards on a one-yard run by Tim Tebow and a five-yard penalty on cornerback Quentin Jammer. Tebow then found Eric Decker for an 18-yard touchdown pass on the next play, making the score 10-7.

Elvis Dumervil delivered a sack for a 13-yard loss on Philip Rivers on the previous drive. As Broncos PR rep Patrick Smyth noted, Dumvervil now has a four-game streak of recording at least half of a sack. It was all negated on the next play when D.J. Williams was flagged for a 15-yard foul because Mike Tolbert's face mask came off. It was a questionable call given that replays were unclear if Williams really did anything to Tolbert to cause that.

Tebow is 3-of-7 for 45 yards at halftime. Willis McGahee has 11 carries for 44 yards.

Broncos Vs. Chargers Score Update: Philip Rivers Finds Antonio Gates For 10-0 Lead

The San Diego Chargers have built a 10-0 lead late in the second quarter against the Denver Broncos. After scoring a field goal to start the game, the Chargers had to wait until the second quarter to get the first touchdown of the game. Philip Rivers led the Chargers 91 yards for the score.

Ryan Mathews and Mike Tolbert provided ground support on the drive, but a Rivers 20-yard pass to Randy McMichael at the end of the first quarter gave the Chargers plenty of momentum heading into the second quarter. Rivers an Vincent Jackson finally connected on a pass once Champ Bailey came off him and Andre Goodman guarded him. Rivers ended the drive with a six-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Gates.

Cassius Vaughn Injury: Denver Broncos CB Questionable To Return After Ankle Injury

The Denver Broncos had another early injury this season. On the kick return after the San Diego Chargers' field goal, cornerback Cassius Vaughn chose to return the ball from inside the endzone. He got knocked up on the play and had to be looked at on the sidelines. After the trainers determined it was an ankle injury, Vaughn had the area taped up and attempted to walk by himself. He wasn't and, according to 850 KOA, he was brought to the locker room for further examination. He is now questionable to return.

The Broncos deactivated Quan Cosby before the game. He has been a returner for the Broncos in the season, but he has not played recently. Earlier in the year, Eric Decker was a punt returner, but he has now transitioned to starting wide receiver. Eddie Royal is in line to take up all the return duties right now.

Broncos Vs. Chargers Score: San Diego Goes Up, 3-0, On Nick Novak Field Goal

The Denver Broncos are down, 3-0, to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday afternoon following a 53-yard field goal by kicker Nick Novak. The Broncos were able to stop a charging Chargers offense for just three points, but the running game is already off to a good start. Ryan Mathews had three carries for 32 yards on the drive, including  15-yard run.

Philip Rivers was just 1-of-4 on the drive and constantly harassed by the defensive line. However, Rivers and the Chargers were unable to get deep into opposing territory since Denver came up big on third down on their side of the field. Instead of opting for the punt, the Chargers elected to go for the field goal, which Novak had no issues with putting through the upright.

San Diego Chargers Inactives: Malcom Floyd, Marcus McNeill, Luis Castillo Out

The San Diego Chargers didn't have any surprises when they announced their inactives against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. As expected, wide receiver Malcom Floyd, offensive tackle Marcus McNeill and defensive tackle Luis Castillo were deactivated for the game, having been declared out on Friday.

The other inactives are wide receiver Bryan Walters, safety Marcus Gilchrist and guards Louis Vasquez and Tyronne Green.

The Broncos could take advantage of a decimated Chargers offensive line, potentially giving rookie linebacker Von Miller a field day to sack Philip Rivers. But then Rivers could keep throwing his interceptions, hurting his team either way. The Broncos will need to take advantage of this situation if they want to win Sunday's game. Victory keeps the Broncos within step of the Oakland Raiders, the current division leader.

Denver Broncos Inactives: Team Keeps Six Players Out With No Replacement For Kyle Orton

The Denver Broncos needed to only deactivate six players for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers because the team has only 52 players on the roster currently. No replacement was added for Kyle Orton. Instead of signing Adam Weber off of the team's practice squad to be the team's third quarterback, Brady Quinn will be the lone quarterback behind Tim Tebow. Wide receiver Eric Decker is the emergency quarterback should anything happen to Tebow and Quinn.

The inactives for the Broncos are wide receiver/returner Quan Cosby, fullback Quinn Johnson, offensive lineman TOny Hills and Manny Ramirez, tight end Julius Thomas and defensive end Derrick Harvey. The only real surprise here would be Julius Thomas, who was listed as probable on the injury report, but with Daniel Fells able to play after his concussion, Thomas appears not to be needed. Tim Tebow hasn't used his tight ends much this year.

Willis McGahee Fantasy Projection: McGahee A Solid Play In Week 12

Despite only gaining 35 yards on 16 carries in his last two games, numberFire.com projects Willis McGahee as the No. 18 overall running back in Week 12, making him a solid play at the second running back spot for any fantasy team. Despite those disappointing yardage totals in the past few games, McGahee will get plenty of carries in Denver's run heavy offense, and with four games over 100 yards on the season, those touches could lead to a big game vs. San Diego.

The Chargers' rush defense is in the bottom half of the NFL, giving up an average of 124 yards per game on the ground, and though Tim Tebow will certainly get his yards on Sunday, that also bodes well for McGahee and his fantasy owners.

Broncos Vs. Chargers: Time, TV Schedule, Radio Streaming And More

The Denver Broncos (5-5) and the San Diego Chargers (4-6) are going in opposite directions. The Broncos have won four of their last five, while the Chargers are on a five game losing streak. The Broncos are rocketing up the AFC West standings thanks in large part to a quarterback that many thought would never have any success in the NFL, while the Chargers are sliding thanks in large part to a quarterback that was widely considered to be one of the best in the NFL.

The Chargers, at least, will be looking to reverse the roles on Sunday, as they try and salvage their season against Tim Tebow's (and Von Miller's) Broncos. The Broncos figure to continue their run-heavy offense against the Chargers below average rush defense, and they'll look for Miller and Elvis Dumerville to take advantage of a San Diego offensive line that has given up 12 sacks in those five losses.

San Diego Chargers Injury Report: Antonio Gates Probable, Malcom Floyd Out Sunday

The San Diego Chargers released their latest injury report on Friday afternoon, and while the Denver Broncos are in good health for Sunday's game, the Chargers haven't been so fortunate. But tight end Antonio Gates and running back Ryan Mathews both are probable for the game.

Wide receiver Malcom Floyd, defensive end Luis Castillo and tackle Marcus McNeill did not participate in practice Friday and are out for Sunday's game. Guards Tyronne Green and Louis Vasquez also missed practice and are listed as doubtful.

Cornerback Marcus Gilchrist and linebacker Shaun Phillips are questionable but fully participated in practice. Along with Antonio Gates and Ryan Mathews, defensive end Jacques Cesaire and linebacker Bront Bird are listed as probable.

Denver Broncos Injury Report: All Players Healthy And Present

The official Twitter of the Denver Broncos is reporting the entire 52-man roster practiced today and no one person is listed any worse than probable:

All 52 players on the #Broncos active roster fully participated in today's practice and are listed as probable for Sunday's game. 4 minutes ago via web · powered by @socialditto

The Broncos have been dealing with a number of injuries lately, including the key to their running game, RB Willis McGahee, and the All-Pro strong safety Brian Dawkins.

McGahee broke his hand earlier this year, but has led the Broncos in rushing yards (658) while sporting a strong 4.7 yards/attempt average. Dawkins, playing in his 13th NFL season, hasn't missed a game this season, but is dealing with an ankle injury.

The Denver Broncos take on the San Diego Chargers this Sunday, hoping to gain ground on the division-leading Oakland Raiders.

Denver Broncos Injury Update: No Changes On Thanksgiving Day

The Denver Broncos took to the practice field on Thanksgiving Day and went through their daily workings. There were no changes of status for anyone who was listed on the reports on Wednesday. Safety David Bruton, tight end Daniel Fells and cornerback Cassius Vaughn are still limited in practice. They could wind up as game-time decisions on Sunday if they are not declared out on Friday's injury report.

Willis McGahee looks ready to get back into the think of things, being a full participant for a second day in a row. He is only listed with a hand injury, hopefully indicating that he is over his hamstring issues from last week. Julius Thomas will likely start at tight end if Fells is unable to play (though Fells did pass his concussion tests).

Week 12 NFL Picks And Predictions: Experts Favor San Diego Chargers Over Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos are in the thick of a playoff race in the AFC and they can help their cause with a win over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. Quarterback Tim Tebow will look to improve to 5-1 since he became the team's starter midway through October. But the first legitimate game action he saw this season was the final half of the team's first game against the Chargers, a comeback that wasn't.

But don't expect the experts to favor the Broncos in this contest. Over at ESPN, only two on the panel of 10 experts selected the Broncos to win this game: Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter. Obviously, Merril Hoge still isn't a fan of Tebow's and doesn't see Tebow Time working out for another week,

Over at CBSSports.com, a panel of five are split, 3-2, in favor of the Chargers winning this game in a straight pick 'em. But when going up against the spread, the split favors the Broncos, because 6-1/2 points might be too much for the Chargers to win by.

Peter Schrager of FOX Sports, however, predicts the Denver Broncos to win, 23-19. He believes the much improved Broncos defense, led by Von Miller, will be able to tame a Chargers offense that Philip Rivers has struggled to lead this season.

With Tim Tebow playing, the Broncos can never be counted out.

Broncos Injury Report: Willis McGahee Fully Participates In Wednesday Practice

With starting running back Knowshon Moreno suffering a season-ending knee injury two weeks ago against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Broncos couldn't afford to lose any more running backs as they continue their push to the top of the AFC West. Fortunately for Denver, Willis McGahee, who was named a team captain following the release of Kyle Orton, appears to be good to go for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers. McGahee fully participated in Wednesday's practice, a week after being limited to just 12 carries and 18 yards with a hand injury in the team's win over the New York Jets.

Safety David Bruton was limited in practice for Denver with an achilles injury. Same goes for tight end Daniel Fells and cornerback Cassius Vaughn.

Veteran safety Brian Dawkins appears he will be ready to go against San Diego. The former Eagles star fully participated in practice.

Willis McGahee Named Denver Broncos Captain After Kyle Orton Released

Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee has been named a team captain after the formal release of quarterback Kyle Orton. Head Coach John Fox explained why the team decided on the veteran running back as their next captain:

"He had the next most votes when we took the vote back before the season started," Broncos coach John Fox said. "So we took the next guy on the pecking order."

McGahee has 707 total yards from scrimmage so far this season, to go with four touchdowns. He is 30-years old, and an eight-year NFL veteran who has also played for the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens. In his career, McGahee has rushed for 6,825 yards and 58 touchdowns, adding 1,096 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.

Week 12 NFL Picks And Predictions: Denver Broncos Out To End Four-Game Losing Streak To San Diego Chargers

The Denver Broncos haven't won a game against the San Diego Chargers since Oct. 19, 2009, a 34-23 victory in San Diego on Monday Night Football. Since then the Broncos have lost four straight games to the Chargers, an unenviable streak that last occurred over the 2006 and 2007 seasons. This can all come to an end on Sunday, and, at the same time, the Broncos can continue to shadow the Oakland Raiders for the lead in the AFC West.

Here are the games that impact the Broncos this weekend:

Chicago Bears vs. Oakland Raiders: Jay Cutler is out for the Bears and former Colorado St. Rams quarterback Caleb Hanie is the starter for now. This would seem to be the perfect situation for the Raiders to take advantage of. While the Bears are riding a five-game winning streak, the odds seems against extending that to six games. RAIDERS

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Kansas City Chiefs: This game benefits the Broncos in different ways depending on the outcome. The Steelers currently occupy one of the two Wild Card spots while the Chiefs are trying to keep afloat in the AFC West race. Chiefs quarterback Tyler Palko has his work cut out for him again with the Steelers. STEELERS

Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals occupy the second Wild Card spot, which the Broncos are competing for right now. The Bengals have been one of the surprises of the league while the Browns have been a large disappointment. BENGALS

Denver Broncos vs. San Diego Chargers: Let's roll with Tebow Time. BRONCOS

Broncos Vs. Chargers: Denver Enters Matchup With Better Playoff Odds Than San Diego

As things stand right now, the Denver Broncos are in a better position for a playoff spot since they are 5-5, good for second in the AFC West and next in line to get a Wild Card spot should a team above them falter. Meanwhile, the Broncos' opponent on Sunday, the San Diego Chargers, are 4-6 and tied for the worst record in the division with the Kansas City Chiefs.

ESPN Insider's Playoff Predictor places the Broncos' chances at making the playoffs at 24.95 percent, but they foresee just a 7-9 record. That is why they are behind the Tennessee Titans and the New York Jets, who are the last two teams out of the AFC playoffs and predicted to finish 8-8. However, both have a lesser chance at the playoffs than the Broncos, according to the Predictor.

Here's what the Jets write up has:

We take the most heat from Jets fans, but facts are facts: You're not a playoff team with the No. 27 offense, and you're not a playoff team if you let Tebow drive on you like that.

And if Tebow keeps driving on teams like that, does it mean that the Broncos are a playoff team?

The Chargers could be the next team to be on the wrong end of a Tebow drive. The prediction from ESPN's model this week is for the Chargers to finish 7-9 with just a 15.7 percent chance of making the playoffs.
