On Monday, Denver Broncos coach John Fox updated the injury status of running back Willis McGahee, saying that he is "day-to-day" with the recovering broken hand. McGahee broke a bone in his hand against the Miami Dolphins and had surgery last Tuesday. He was held out of practice last week and declared inactive against the Detroit Lions.
McGahee has his right hand wrapped in a cast and that prevented him from practicing last week. Receiver Demaryius Thomas was out for six weeks after he broke his pinky finger. However, Fox does appear to legitimately believe that McGahee could return to action this week, just one week after surgery. Yet, that might not be the wisest idea since the team isn't competing for a playoff spot.
Knowshon Moreno took over for McGahee and finished the game with 14 carries for 69 yards. Moreno will continue to gain starts in the backfield until McGahee returns.
