Joe Ellis To Run Day-To-Day Operations As Broncos President; Pat Bowlen Praises Elway

Along with John Elway being named the Denver Broncos' executive vice president of football operations, Chief Operating Officer Joe Ellis was appointed as team president on Wednesday morning. He and Elway will be at the 1:30 p.m. MT press conference on Wednesday.

Ellis has taken over more and more of the daily operations of the Denver Broncos the last few seasons, while owner Pat Bowlen has taken to the background. Being named team president officially, Ellis officially runs the day-to-day operations of the Broncos. According to Denver Broncos.com, Ellis has "ultimate responsibility for the organization" and is the voice of owner Pat Bowlen on the Broncos.

In his own statement, Pat Bowlen praised Elway and believes he will be able to bring "long-term success through his work" for the Broncos. Calling him a "perfect fit," Bowlen is ready for ready for the Elway era in the front office.
