CSU was picked to finish middle of the pack in the preseason Mountain West poll.
The Colorado State Rams' women's basketball team will be middle of the road in the Mountain West in 2012-13, according to the league's coaches and select media members. The Rams were tabbed to finish fifth in the nine-team conference in the preseason women's basketball poll.
Defending conference champion San Diego State was picked to win the conference again, receiving 22 first-place votes and 198 total points. CSU, by comparison, received 109 total points.
Fresno State (the only other team to receive first-place votes with two) was picked to finish second, followed by UNLV, Wyoming, CSU, New Mexico, Boise State, Nevada and Air Force.
The Rams didn't land any players on the preseason All-Mountain West team. Those honors went to Boise State's Lauren Lenhardt, Fresno State's Ki-Ki Moore, New Mexico's Caroline Durbin, and San Diego State's Courtney Clements and Chelsea Hopkins. Clements was picked as the preseason Mountain West player of the year.
CSU opens its season Nov. 1 against the Colorado School of Mines.
