Utah State Vs. Colorado State Final Score: Rams Fall To Aggies, 31-19

Colorado State couldn't keep up with the offensive attack of Utah State, losing to the Aggies 31-19 on Saturday night.

The Rams move to 1-3 on the season, having lost both home contests on the year after a tough loss to Utah State. The Aggies jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first half, thanks to a pair of lengthy touchdown drives and the defense's complete shutdown of the Colorado State offense.

Colorado State would finally get on the board with a pair of field goals in the third quarter, pulling to within 17-6, before a 58-yard rushing touchdown by Kerwynn Williams extended the Utah State lead once more. The Rams and Aggies would trade touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but it was too late, as the Rams would ultimately lose 31-19.

Rams quarterback Garrett Grayson was 22-of-40 for 224 yards and two touchdowns, although most of the troubles for the Colorado State offense came on the ground. As a team, the Rams averaged just 3.1 yards per carry on 34 rushes in the game.

Utah State turned the ball over three times in the game, including two interceptions by quarterback Chuckie Keeton, yet Colorado State was unable to take advantage.

The Rams take on Air Force on Saturday, Sept. 29, with kickoff set for 12 p.m. MT.

Utah State Vs. Colorado State Score Update: Rams Trailing 24-6 In 3rd Quarter

Colorado State continues to trail Utah State, 24-6, after three quarters on Saturday night.

The Rams managed to pull to within 17-6 in the third quarter after being shut out in the first half, only to allow a Utah State touchdown in the final minute of the quarter. Jared Roberts hit field goals of 28 and 31 yards to open the third quarter, but a Kerwynn Williams 58-yard touchdown rush extended Utah State lead to 24-6.

Colorado State has just 177 yards of offense through three quarters, with quarterback Garrett Grayson 10-of-20 for 74 yards in the game so far. Tommey Morris has 76 yards on eight carries, but the Rams have average just 4.0 yards per carry and will likely need to find some chemistry through the air if there are any hopes of getting back into the game.

Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton is 23-of-29 for 168 yards and a touchdown, while running back Kerwynn Williams has 202 yards rushing on 20 carries.

Utah State Vs. Colorado State Halftime Score: Rams Trail Aggies, 17-0

The Colorado State Rams trail the Utah State Aggies at halftime of Saturday's game, 17-0. The Rams are trying to get back on the winning track after dropping their last two games, but so far those efforts have been unsuccessful.

The Aggies opened the first quarter with 10 unanswered points. Kerwynn Williams took a 26-yard run to the house, which gave Utah State its first points of the game. Then, a 20-yard field goal by kicker Josh Thompson extended the Aggies' lead.

Chuckie Keeton and Matt Austin hooked up for a short touchdown pass for the only score of the second quarter. That play capped an 18-play, 85-yard drive, which took more than seven minutes off the game clock.

The Aggies have dominated the Rams, putting up 278 yards of total offense in the first half, compared to Colorado State's 61.

Utah State Vs. Colorado State 2012: TV Schedule, Game Time, Spread And More

After beating their in-state rival in Boulder, the Colorado Buffaloes, in their season opener, the 2012 year looked to be off to a very good start for Colorado State. Location: Hughes Stadium, Fort Collins, Co.

TV: KTVD 20 Denver

Colorado State Injury Report: Rams Likely Getting RB Chris Nwoke Back

The Colorado St. Rams only have a few injuries when they take on the Utah State Aggies on Saturday, but the big news is the likely return of starting running back Chris Nwoke.

Getting Nwoke back would be a huge boost, and he is very much needed since Utah State's defensive front seven is very good. The Aggies shutdown Utah's John White IV, and were able to slow down Wisconsin's Montee Ball by stonewalling their offensive line.

Week 4 college football picks

As for injuries, backup running back Donnell Alexander who has been filling in for Nwoke has an ankle injury that could have him miss Saturday's game.

The big injuries for the Rams this week come in their secondary. Cornerback Bernard Blake is questionable with a hamstring injury, and Momo Thomas is doubtful with shoulder issues. Thomas also is a punt returner and he is likely to be replaced by Joe Hansley, Lee Clubb, Thomas Coffman or Jasen Oden.

Then there is defensive end John Froland is not 100 percent as he has been slowed down with a neck stinger. The hope for Froland is that he could see some time on passing downs against Utah State.

Chris Nwoke Injury: Running Back Returns To Practice

The Colorado St. Rams received some good news early this week when starting running back Chris Nwoke returned to practice. Nwoke has been sidelined with an ankle injury that he hurt in the Rams season opening win against the Colorado Buffaloes, and he sate out the pat two games, both were loses.

Head coach Jim McElwain is stil in a wait and see mode about Nwoke's status against the Utah St. Aggies. Offensive lineman Brandon Haynes is excited to likely have Nwoke back in the lineup:

"It would be a huge thing," Haynes said of Nwoke's return. "It's encouraging because he's coming back fresh off the injury, so he'll be 100 percent. He'll be Chris Nwoke again, powerful, running downhill. He's gonna hit you in the mouth. It's going to be nice to have him back."

Getting Nwoke back in the lineup is huge, and with backup running back Donnell Alexander is listed as questionable with an ankle injury of his own the need for Nwoke in the lineup is huge.
