Bracketology 2012: Colorado State Remains Best Local Team With Shot At NCAA Tournament

The Colorado St. Rams remain the state's best hope to make the 2012 NCAA Tournament, but even that is not certain. The only way the team can legitimately make the Big Dance would be to win the 2012 Mountain West Tournament, thus gaining the conference's automatic bid. But they have made a strong case to be the Mountain West's fourth team in, its third at-large. So, the Rams remain in the latest SB Nation 2012 Bracketology projection as a No. 12 seed.

In this prediction, the Rams would be in the South region to play the No. 5 Florida St. Seminoles in Nashville, Tenn. Should they pull off the upset, the Rams would potentially play one of three teams since a First Four matchup comes in at this bracket: the No. 4 Wisconsin Badgers or the No. 13 South Florida Bulls or the No. 13 Xavier Musketeers.

The Denver Pioneers lost out on an NCAA Tournament bid after falling to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Monday night. They will now settle for a lesser tournament after stopping one game short of the Sun Belt championship game. The Colorado Buffaloes will need to win the Pac-12 to play in the NCAA Tournament.
