Can the Rams work their way into the NCAAs this season?

The Colorado State Rams have picked up a couple quality wins in Mountain West Conference play -- the latest coming against New Mexico -- and the Rams remain in good standing with the RPI, which is one of tools used by the NCAA tournament selection committee to determine at-large bids.

Despite that solid RPI rating (No. 27 in the latest update), SB Nation bracketologist Chris Dobbertean does not have CSU in his projected field of 68. The Rams are on the doorstep as one of the first four teams left out, so they still have a chance to work their way into the picture. Here's what Dobbertean has to say about CSU:

After Saturday's loss at San Diego State, the Rams' record away from Fort Collins now stands at 4-9, which likely means an NIT trip is in the team's future. Yes, Colorado State's computer numbers are excellent, but that's mostly a function of their losses (at Duke, UNLV, New Mexico, Northern Iowa and Southern Miss. at home) than quality victories (New Mexico, San Diego State and Wyoming at Moby Arena).

The Rams get a shot at UNLV next and then close out the regular season at Air Force.
