With the opportunity to continue its undefeated start to Mountain West play, the Colorado St. Rams delivered a dismal performance in Laramie, Wyoming, falling 70-51 to the Cowboys. With the loss, Colorado St. saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end.
The Rams had no answer for Leonard Washington in the post, as the transfer from USC scored 32 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in an utterly dominant performance. Washington hit 12/16 from the field and even showed off some range from behind the arc, where he hit 3/4. Luke Martinez was the only other Cowboy to reach double-figures, as he scored 12 points on just 3/14 shooting from the field.
Colorado St. was led by Greg Smith, who scored a team-high 18 points and grabbed six rebounds in the loss. Jesse Carr came off the bench to score 12 points, while Pierce Hornung added 10 for Colorado St. The Rams struggled to score from the field, shooting just 40.5% from the field as a team.
Knowing a victory would keep them at the top of the Mountain West standings, the Colorado St. Rams came out flat in the opening half against Wyoming and trail 32-19 after 20 minutes. The Rams have won eight straight and are one of two teams with an undefeated record in conference play.
Junior forward Greg Smith was the only player able to generate a rhythm on the offensive end, as he hit four of the eight field goals the Rams made in the first half. Smith was the lone CSU player to reach double-figures, scoring 11 points, while Pierce Hornung was the next highest scorer with just four points.

The transfer from USC hit four of his five shot attempts from the field and controlled the paint. Luke Martinez added 10 points for Wyoming, which shot just 39.3% from the field as a team.
