Colorado St. Vs. Wyoming Score Update: Rams Suffer First Mountain West Loss

With the opportunity to continue its undefeated start to Mountain West play, the Colorado St. Rams delivered a dismal performance in Laramie, Wyoming, falling 70-51 to the Cowboys. With the loss, Colorado St. saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end.

The Rams had no answer for Leonard Washington in the post, as the transfer from USC scored 32 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in an utterly dominant performance. Washington hit 12/16 from the field and even showed off some range from behind the arc, where he hit 3/4. Luke Martinez was the only other Cowboy to reach double-figures, as he scored 12 points on just 3/14 shooting from the field.

Colorado St. was led by Greg Smith, who scored a team-high 18 points and grabbed six rebounds in the loss. Jesse Carr came off the bench to score 12 points, while Pierce Hornung added 10 for Colorado St. The Rams struggled to score from the field, shooting just 40.5% from the field as a team.

Colorado St. Vs. Wyoming Score Update: Rams Struggle Offensively In Opening Half

Knowing a victory would keep them at the top of the Mountain West standings, the Colorado St. Rams came out flat in the opening half against Wyoming and trail 32-19 after 20 minutes. The Rams have won eight straight and are one of two teams with an undefeated record in conference play.

Junior forward Greg Smith was the only player able to generate a rhythm on the offensive end, as he hit four of the eight field goals the Rams made in the first half. Smith was the lone CSU player to reach double-figures, scoring 11 points, while Pierce Hornung was the next highest scorer with just four points.

The Cowboys received a dominant first half performance from Leonard Washington, who scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds. The transfer from USC hit four of his five shot attempts from the field and controlled the paint. Luke Martinez added 10 points for Wyoming, which shot just 39.3% from the field as a team.

Colorado State. Vs. Wyoming: Rams Looking To Extend 8-Game Winning Streak

The Colorado State Rams are red hot at the moment, riding an eight-game winning streak and sporting a perfect 2-0 record in Mountain West Conference play. On Saturday, they will be looking for their fifth consecutive victory over the Wyoming Cowboys. The Rams' offense is their strength. They rank 56th nationally in points per game (74.7) and 10th overall in field-goal percentage (49.7). The offense is led by junior guard Wes Eikmeier and junior guard Dorian Green. Eikmeier averages 16.7 points per game and shoots 38.5 percent from three, while Green adds 14.2 points per game on 51 percent shooting from the field and a shockingly good 50.8 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Colorado State hold an advantage in nearly every category for this matchup, so it should be a good opportunity to see where they stand within the conference.
