In a game where they gave up 89 points, it was the Colorado State Ram's defense that propelled them to a double overtime victory over the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday night. The Rams (12-4, 1-0) held the Horned Frogs (10-6, 0-1) to just six points in the second overtime frame, while relying on a mixture of rebounds and free throws to eke out an eventual 95-89 victory.
The Rams were led by forward Will Bell, who finished with 23 points, eight rebounds, an assist, four blocks and two steals. Star guard Wes Eikmeier finished with 21 points, but on only 8-20 shooting, but the Rams received a notable boost from guard Dorian Green, who finished with 19 points, five rebounds and five assists, which included 8-11 shooting from the line.
Maybe the most important stat of the game is that despite going to two overtimes, only back up forward Pierce Hornung fouled out for the Rams. The Horned Frogs, meanwhile, lost starting guards J.R. Cadot and Hank Thorns to fouls, as well as back up guard Nate Butler.
The Rams will look to extend their winning streak to eight on Tuesday, Jan. 17 when they host the Boise State Broncos.
