LSU Vs. Alabama, 2012 BCS National Title Game: Colorado State HC Jim McElwain Leads Crimson Tide Offense

Jim McElwain gives the Alabama Crimson Tide one more game before he heads off to Fort Collins, CO, and the Colorado State Rams as the new coach at the university. McElwain is looking for the Tide to defeat the No. 1 LSU Tigers in the 2012 BCS National Title Game.

The 2012 BCS National Title Game between the No. 1 LSU Tigers and the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide on Jan. 9, 2012, will mark the last time Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain is on the team's sideline. Once that game ends, McElwain will finally be all green lights as the head coach of the Colorado St. Rams. McElwain took over as the head coach of the Rams on Dec. 13 and spent a few days recruiting before he returned to Alabama.

As for the National Title Game, McElwain will direct an offense that is out to avenge its 9-6 loss to the Tigers on Nov. 5. In that game, third-place Heisman Trophy finalist Trent Richardson picked up 89 yards on 23 carries. However, the Tide offense did outgain the Tigers, 295-239.

The over/under for this game might be far too optimistic at 40-40.5 points based on the first matchup of the season. Only 10 more days to find out if that is true.
