Colorado State Vs. UTEP Final Score: Miners Defeat Rams, 31-17

Not even the lights going down in El Paso were able to prevent the UTEP Miners from defeating the Colorado St. Rams, 31-17. At halftime, the lights at the Sun Bowl went out and the fans used their cell phones to light up the stadium. The Miners led just 17-10 at that point and pulled away in the second half.

Miners quarterback Nick Lamaison was just 8-of-15 for 115 yards, but he had both a passing and rushing touchdown. He struck a 36-yard pass to Nathan Jeffrey less than 90 seconds into the game. He'd wait again until the fourth quarter to score his 33-yard touchdown run. In between those Lamaison scores, Vernon Frazier had touchdown runs of 48 and 83 yards.

For Colorado State, Pete Thomas was just 19-of-33 for 162 yards and one interception. Chris Nwoke had a 24-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for the Rams' only offensive touchdown. Charles Lovett picked off Lamaison for a 45-yard touchdown return during the middle of the second quarter.

The 4-3 UTEP Miners face Southern Miss next while the 3-4 Rams should have an easy time with UNLV next week.
