Rockies Vs. Phillies Game 2 Recap: Errors Costly For Colorado In 7-4 Loss

The Colorado Rockies committed five errors on Sunday evening in a 7-4 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. The Rockies took a 4-1 lead in the top of the third inning thanks to a Ramon Hernandez single and a Chris Nelson three-run home run, before mistakes cost Colorado dearly in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.

A fielding error by Nelson and a missed pickoff attempt by Jonathan Herrera gave the Phillies new life in the fifth inning, with Ryan Howard smashing a two-run single the next play. After a Ty Wiggington home run in the sixth, a fielding error in the outfield set up run-scoring singles by Carlos Ruiz and Nate Schierholtz, giving the Phillies a commanding 7-4 lead.

Nelson and Herrera had two errors each while Jordan Pacheco was credited with one of his own.

Starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz lasted just four innings, allowing four runs (one earned) and striking out three on 77 pitches. The Phillies and Rockies would combine to use 10 relief pitchers in the game, with Phillies starter Tyler Cloyd lasting just four innings as well.
