Rob Scahill, Matt McBride To Join Rockies On Wednesday

Stay connected for news and updates

The Colorado Rockies, possibly looking to improve their luck against their current opponents, the Atlanta Braves, are set to activate pitcher Rob Scahill and utilityman Matt McBride on Wednesday, according to a report by Troy Renck of The Denver Post.

Colorado, with Tuesday night's 6-0 victory, is 7-23 in their previous 30 games against the Braves, and Scahill and McBride figure to bring useful strengths to the table for the Rockies.

The right-handed Scahill, according to Renck's report, is a flame-throwing reliever with the ability to hit 97 miles per hour on the radar gun, striking out 151 batters as a starting pitcher in Triple-A. He will primarily be used in one-inning appearances to start, according to manager Jim Tracy.

McBride appeared in nine games in August for the Rockies, hitting .200 in 20 at-bats with 2 RBIs. With Triple-A Colorado Springs, he was their premier batter, according to Renck, but, while able to play right field, catcher and first base, has yet to land in one consistent spot defensively.
