Jorge De La Rosa Scheduled For Rehab Start With Grand Junction

Stay connected for news and updates

One of the many disappointments for the Colorado Rockies in 2012 was that Jorge De La Rosa did not return after having Tommy John Surgery in 2011. De La Rosa has been out recovering from the surgery for 15 months now, but it looks like he will finally pitch in a live game this week: He is scheduled to start for the Grand Junction Rockies on Wednesday.

The move could leave him able to pitch for the Rockies later in the season if he is able to work his way up quickly.

Even if he doesn't, he'll be getting some baseball under his belt before next year. De La Rosa will likely pitch Winter Ball in Mexico over the off season as he prepares to return to the Rockies in 2013. He'll be a key part of a rotation made up of youngsters cutting their teeth as the Rockies try to improve their fortunes from 2012, which is shaping up to be one of the worst seasons of pitching the Rockies will ever see.
