Rockies vs. Cubs final score: Colorado victorious in rain-shortened game, 10-5

Unable to make it through a full nine innings on Tuesday night due to rain, the Colorado Rockies won a seven-inning game with the Chicago Cubs to kick off the series, 10-5.

Rockies hitters racked up 15 hits in the win, and were led by a pair of three-hit performances from Chris Nelson and DJ LeMahieu. The 24-year-old LeMahieu not only finished a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate, but ended the game just a home run shy of hitting for the cycle.

Forced to stop play in the top of the seventh inning, the two teams endured a 48-minute rain delay before the game was eventually called by umpires. Rockies pitcher Carlos Torres walked away with his fifth victory of the season for his work to help spell left-handed starter Jorge De La Rosa, while Cubs pitcher Chris Rusin saw his earned-run average climb to 7.30 with the woeful effort that earned him the loss.

The Rockies will use Drew Pomeranz (1-9, 5.30 ERA) on Wednesday in Game 2 of the series against winless Chicago righty Jason Berken (0-1, 3.27 ERA).
