2013 World Baseball Classic: International sites announced

World Baseball Classic, Inc., announced its international sites for the 2013 World Baseball Classic, set to begin March 2, with part of the Pool D games to be held at Sal River Fields, the spring training home of the Colorado Rockies.

Pool D will also have games played at Chase Field in Phoenix, and consists of the United States, Italy, Mexico and a yet to be determined qualifier.

Pool A will be held at the Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome from March 2-6, with China, Cuba (pending license approval), host Japan and a qualifier winner still to be determined.

Taichung, Taiwan, debuts as a host city, holding Pool B games at Intercontinental Stadium March 2-5. The venue will feature Australia, Korea, 2011 champion Netherlands and another winning qualifier.

For the third time, Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico, will serve as a host. Pool C games will be played from March 7-10, include host Puerto Rico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and the winning qualifier still to be determined.
