2013 World Baseball Classic: International venues set

The 2013 World Baseball Classic will play games in Phoenix, Ariz., at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Spring Training home to the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies.

Rockies spring training facility to host WBC games

World Baseball Classic, Inc., announced its international sites for the 2013 World Baseball Classic, set to begin March 2, with part of the Pool D games to be held at Sal River Fields, the spring training home of the Colorado Rockies.

Pool D will also have games played at Chase Field in Phoenix, and consists of the United States, Italy, Mexico and a yet to be determined qualifier.

Pool A will be held at the Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome from March 2-6, with China, Cuba (pending license approval), host Japan and a qualifier winner still to be determined.

Taichung, Taiwan, debuts as a host city, holding Pool B games at Intercontinental Stadium March 2-5. The venue will feature Australia, Korea, 2011 champion Netherlands and another winning qualifier.

For the third time, Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico, will serve as a host. Pool C games will be played from March 7-10, include host Puerto Rico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and the winning qualifier still to be determined.
