Rapids Vs. Earthquakes: Colorado Falls In 4-1 Beating

Stay connected for news and updates

Two San Jose Earthquake players scored braces in a 4-1 win over the Colorado Rapids at Buck Shaw Stadium on Saturday. Simon Dawkins and Alan Gordon scored two goals a piece as the Colorado defense could find no answers for the onslaught that the Quakes put on them all match long.

Second half substitution Tyrone Marshall put in the only goal for Colorado on a corner kick header. Martin Rivero's assist on that corner kick was his eighth of the season, giving him back the team lead in the A column. Past that header there were few highlights to speak of for the reeling Rapids. Colorado has won only a single game in their last ten.

Saturday's 4-1 loss represented the worst scoreline suffered by Colorado all season, tied with another 4-1 loss suffered against the New York Red Bulls early in the season. The loss moves the Rapids to an awful 2-16-2 record when letting the other team score a goal.
