Dexter Fowler Could Be Available To Pinch-hit On Sunday, According To Report

Stay connected for news and updates

Dexter Fowler won't be available when the Colorado Rockies open their three-game series against the Chicago Cubs and may not be available for the entire series because of a sprained ankle. The latest update indicates that the best case scenario would see him available off of the bench on Sunday, when the Rockies and Cubs are wrapping things up at Wrigley Field.

Fowler injured himself on Wednesday night when he rolled his ankle on second base in a game against the New York Mets. He had to be helped off of the field by two trainers.

The injury could not come at a worse time for Fowler, who has been red hot of late. He is hitting .588 in his last seven games and has boosted his average 19 points to .307 since August 7.

While the Rockies still remain in the NL West basement, they have won five straight and nine of their last 11. After three games in Chicago, they will head home to Coors Field for three games with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
