Colorado Rockies Take Wil Nieves Off Disabled List, Designate Him For Assignment

Colorado Rockies catcher Wil Nieves is ready to return from a turf toe injury that landed him on the 15-day disabled list, but he won't be re-joining the big league club. Nieves has been designated for assignment by Coloradoas the 34-year old catcher is out of options.

Nieves is hitting .298 with one home run and five RBIs this season. He last played on July 8 in a 4-3 loss to the Washington Nationals.
