The New York Mets have serious interest in Rockies catcher Ramon Hernandez, but Colorado's high asking price is too high for the team at the moment, as Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. Puma says that a deal isn't likely in the next two weeks given what a deal would take.

Hernandez, 36, hasn't played well this season, but the Mets are presumably looking at the larger track record. While he's hit just .215/.260/.398 in 101 plate appearances this season, Hernandez batted .290/.353/.437 in 680 plate appearances over the 2010-2011 seasons.
