Ramon Hernandez Injury: Catcher To Begin Rehab Assignment On Wednesday

Stay connected for news and updates

Colorado Rockies catcher Ramon Hernandez will begin his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Colorado Springs on Wednesday night, as the team announced. It was previously reported that the assignment could begin on Thursday, but Hernandez isn't taking the extra day to get on the field.

Hernandez has been on the disabled list since May 25 with a left hand strain, an injury that had been bothering him all season before he ultimately decided to shut things down. The numbers bear his struggles this season, as he's hit just .215/.260/.398 with four homers over 101 plate appearances.

Wilin Rosario has handled most of the catching duties with Hernandez out, flashing absolutely huge power numbers (10 doubles, 14 homers), but a terrible .280 on-base percentage.
