Colorado opens up a home series against the NL Central-leading Cincinnati Reds.
After salvaging the final game in their series against Arizona (and a 2-4 record on their divisional road trip), the Colorado Rockies return home to face the hot Cincinnati Reds, who have won seven straight games to surge to the top of the NL Central standings without superstar Joey Votto in the lineup.
With the trade deadline looming on Monday, July 31, this could be the last series for several Rockies' players rumored to be on the block, including Marco Scutaro and Rafael Betancourt.
The Rockies will send promising young lefty Drew Pomeranz (1-5, 4.98) to the hill. Pomeranz struggled through his last start in San Diego, complaining of arm tightness. The team pushed back his start as a precautionary measure, but he appears rested and ready to pitch.
Cincinnati will counter with veteran Bronson Arroyo (5-6, 3.98). The right-hander has historically struggled at Coors Field through his career, with a 8.84 ERA in four career starts.
Game time & date: 6:40 p.m. MT, Friday, July 27, 2012
Location: Coors Field, Denver, CO
Broadcast Info: ROOT Sports/850 KOA
