Todd Helton is eyeing a Tuesday return to the Rockies.
Injured Colorado Rockies first baseman Todd Helton is going to test his hip by playing in a couple of games for the Rockies' rookie league team in Grand Junction this weekend. He hopes to return to the majors on Tuesday.
Helton said that he felt fine after taking some swings on Thursday and doesn't expect any setbacks at this point.
"I took swings today and everything felt good, so I don't anticipate there being any problems," Helton said Thursday afternoon.
Helton is hitting .235/.332/.398 with 13 doubles, seven home runs and 34 RBI in 63 games with the Rockies this season. He has not appeared in a game since July 8.
