MLB Trade Rumors: Red Sox May Have Interest In Rafael Betancourt

Stay connected for news and updates

It's unclear at the moment how aggressive the Colorado Rockies plan to be in unloading players come this season's trade deadline, but the team does have some pieces that could be attractive to contenders in both leagues. One of those is closer Rafael Betancourt, who has 15 saves so far this season and has struck out 35 batters in 31.2 innings.

One team that may have interest in the Colorado closer are the Boston Red Sox, who, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, are eyeing Betancourt. As Cafardo points out, the Rockies likely won't be able to get a huge return for the 37-year-old closer, but effective relievers are always in high demand come the trade deadline, and the Rockies could conceivably pick up a decent piece if they decide to move Betancourt.
