The odds are against Colorado Rockies prospect OF Ryan Garvey ever living up to the career his father, Steve Garvey, had during 19 years in the major leagues. Steve was a career .294 hitter with 272 home runs and 1,308 RBI. He was a 10-time All-Star and a four-time Gold Glove first baseman.
So, yeah, it'll be hard to measure up to that, but Ryan is more than ready to start his minor league baseball career with the Rockies. In fact, he told the Rockies he'd sign and didn't even negotiate with them. He'll play for the Rockies' new Grand Junction team, which begins play on June 18.
