2012 MLB Draft Results: Rockies Select Another C In Round 7, Wilfredo Rodriguez

Stay connected for news and updates

The Puerto Rican Baseball Academy has put out some solid prospects including the No. 1 overall pick in this draft Carlos Correa, and the Colorado Rockies sapped another player from it by selecting Puerto Rico's Wilfredo Rodriguez with the No. 228 pick in the seventh round of the draft.

A medium sized guy at 5'10'' and 202 lbs., Rodriguez is an offensive minded catcher and a guy who can hit to all fields as a righty. His defense isn't often mentioned by scouts, so he might not end up being a true catcher prospect in the system of the Rockies if he can move up.

Rodriguez is the second catcher taken in the draft by the Rockies, they selected catcher Tom Murphy out of the University of Buffalo back in the third round of the draft.
