Rockies Roster 2012: Jeff Francis Could Return To Colorado

Stay connected for news and updates

The Cincinnati Reds recently released long-time Colorado Rockies pitcher Jeff Francis, stirring rumors that the 31-year-old pitcher could return to the Rockies.

Francis pitched 77 and 1/3 innings with the Reds' Triple-A affiliate sporting a 3.72 ERA and 3.26 FIP. He played six seasons with the Colorado Rockies, hurling over 800 innings with the club. The left-handed Francis sports three pitches -- a fastball, curve and changeup -- and rarely goes above 88 mph on his fastball.

The southpaw could presumably replace another soft-tossing lefty, SP Jamie Moyer -- who was released earlier in the season. Moyer started 10 games for the Rockies, earning a 5.70 ERA and 5.45 FIP.
