Roy Oswalt will make his debut with the Rangers on Friday when the Rockies come to town.

The Texas Rangers will promote Roy Oswalt from the minor leagues to make his debut with the team on Friday when they host the Colorado Rockies, as Scott Miller of CBS Sports reports. Texas signed Oswalt back on May 29 and he's already made four starts in the upper minors with the organization.

Through four total starts with Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock this year, Oswalt has a 5.87 ERA with 13 strikeouts and four walks. His performance certainly doesn't make one particularly confident about his ability to succeed in the majors, but the strikeout-to-walk ratio is at least one area for optimism.

Considering how poorly the Rockies have played lately, losing 11 of their past 12 games and 29 of their past 42, Texas picked a good team for Oswalt to get his feet wet with. Most of Colorado's major issues are related to their pitching staff, though.
