After a disastrous homestand, the Colorado Rockies begin a difficult road swing in Detroit.

After a disastrous homestand that saw the Colorado Rockies swept by the Los Angeles Angels and Oakland Athletics, Colorado is hoping that a extended road trip can be the panacea for their starting pitching woes. They head to Michigan and will face the Detroit Tigers in interleague play to start off night straight games on the road.

The Rockies will send Jeff Francis (0-1, 21.60) to the mound for his second start in the majors this season. The veteran lefty did not fare well against the Angels in his start since returning to Colorado, though he did pitch well against the Tigers in 2011 as a member of the Kansas City Royals. In each of his last five starts against the Tigers, Francis pitched at least six innings and finished with a 3.08 ERA in those games.

Detroit will counter with rookie Casey Crosby (1-1, 9.35), a lefthander making just his third start in the major leagues. The 23-year-old has walked seven batters in just 8 1/3 innings of work, allowing nine earned runs over that time.

The Rockies are still looking for their first interleague victory of the season. They are currently 0-9 in 2012 against the American League.

Game time/date: 5:05 p.m. MT, Friday, June 15

Location: Comerica Park, Detroit, MI
