Ramon Hernandez Injury: Rockies Catcher Feeling Better, Expecting To Play Tuesday

Stay connected for news and updates

The Colorado Rockies (12-16) should have their starting catcher back on Tuesday. Troy Renck of The Denver Post reports that the tendinitis injury to C Ramon Hernandez continues, but should not keep him from Tuesday's game. Hernandez was forced to miss Monday's opening game of the series as a last second scratch.

According to Renck, the Rockies catcher has pain in his left hand that causes him to hurt while swinging a bat. The injury has plagued him much of the season, but Hernandez has hit .279/.296/.529 with 4 home runs despite that.

In Hernadnez's absence, the Rockies have turned largely to C Wilin Rosario, who has also excelled in his limited playing time. He has hit .227/.255/.568 with 4 home runs. Rosario is in his second season in the majors and has thus far shown limited patience, but surprising power, hitting 7 homers in 104 PA.
