The 2012 Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List is out and LSU Tigers pitcher Kevin Gausman is in a strong position to make it to the semifinalist list that will be announced on May 29. The midseason award list features 60 players and Gausman was a no-doubter for this announcement given his performance so far this season.
Before Friday's game, Gausman was 7-1 with 97 strikeouts and a 3.12 ERA. He received a no-decision in Friday's 4-3 10th inning victory over Ole Miss, but he gave the team a solid 7.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He struck out four. He now stands at 7-1 with a 3.16 ERA and 101 strikeouts.
