Stay connected for news and updates

The Colorado Rockies will add right-handed pitcher Carlos Torres to the roster on Friday as the corresponding move to Jhoulys Chacin being demoted to Triple-A, reports the Denver Post's Troy Renck:

Torres had been scheduled to start for the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Thursday night, but now he will join the Rockies to pitch out of the bullpen for the time being. It remains to be seen if Torres will turn out to be the replacement starter in the rotation for Chacin.

Torres has appeared in 13 games over 2009-10 with a 6.86 ERA in 42 innings pitched. He is 2-1 with a 2.88 ERA in five Triple-A starts this season.
