MLB Draft 2012 Mock Draft: Rockies Projected For High School Outfielder

Stay connected for news and updates

The Colorado Rockies will pick tenth overall in the 2012 MLB Draft, putting them in prime position to get a prospect who could develop into a star player. They also could opt for a college player who has a lower ceiling and a higher floor, but in his most recent mock draft Baseball America's Jim Callis sees them opting for a toolsy, projectable high school outfielder with major power.

That player is Courtney Hawkins, a 6' 2", 210 pound corner outfielder from Corpus Christi, Tex. Hawkins is committed to play college ball for the Texas Longhorns, but if he was picked by the Rockies at No. 10 overall he would almost certainly sign with the team and go pro. Hawkins is a prospect with major raw power who needs to improve his overall hitting ability.
