Jhoulys Chacin Injury Update: Rockies P Looks For 2nd Opinion On Shoulder

The Colorado Rockies haven't had a healthy Jhoulys Chacin in the rotation for the entire season, and nearly a month after he was removed from the roster and placed on the disabled list, he is no closer to returning than before. As a result, the Rockies have sought out a second opinion on Chacin's injured shoulder, reports Thomas Harding.

Chacin had originally been demoted to the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox, but he eventually revealed the discomfort in his shoulder. The team rescinded the move and placed him on the disabled list. He has yet to build up the arm strength to begin throwing.

Chacin went 0-3 with a 7.30 ERA in five starts before he went on the disabled list. He was expected -- or hoped to be -- the pitcher to step up and fill in the void in the rotation since Ubaldo Jimenez's performance diminished and paved the way for a trade.

The Rockies are also waiting for Jorge De La Rosa to make his way back to the majors, but recovering from Tommy John surgery is taking longer than expected. He won't be back on the original target date of June 2.
