One day after they lost to Mississippi St. in the SEC Tournament, LSU was back on the diamond in an elimination game to face Ole Miss. Colorado native Kevin Gausman was on the mound for the Tigers and picked up the victory in the 11-2 win.
Gausman struck out seven in seven innings while allowing just two runs. The Tigers offense gave Gausman an early 2-0 lead after the first inning, but this was a tight game until LSU scored seven runs over the final two innings of the game. Austin Nola, former Colorado Rockies draft pick in 2008, went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and one RBI.
Gausman is now 10-1 with a 2.84 ERA and 125 strikeouts in 107.2 innings.
The Tigers will face either Mississippi St. or Kentucky on Friday.
