Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki took Dexter Fowler's hard line drive foul ball off his left fibula during Monday night's game against the San Francisco Giants, and although he stayed in the game and took his turn at the plate two batters later, manager Jim Tracy eventually removed him from the game. The Rockies SS was examined after the game, and thankfully X-rays were negative and Tulowitzki is listed a day-to-day with a deep bruise on his fibula, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.

As for why Tulo stayed in the game after taking a sharp liner off his leg, the shortstop explained to Renck that he was too numb to really notice the pain even though he thought his leg was broken:

"When I went to the on-deck circle, I was sure it was [broken] because I couldn't feel anything. I guess you have a nerve in there like the elbow and that's what caused it to go numb. I know I am going to be really sore tomorrow. I don't know after that. I am not a doctor. But I glad that it's not worse."

It appears the Rockies dodged a bullet in this situation, and although Tulowitzki is unlikely to play in Tuesday's game, he is simply listed as day-to-day and avoided a broken bone on the play.
