Rockies Vs. Astros Final Score: Colorado Roughed Up In 7-3 Loss

The nearly-50-year-old LHP Jamie Moyer did not have the greatest of debuts for the Colorado Rockies (1-1), pitching only 5.0 innings while allowing 4 runs (3 earned) in the Rockies' 7-3 loss to the Houston Astros (1-1). The veteran Moyer walked only 1 batter and struck out 2, but allowed two crucial home runs and a total of 5 hits.

The Astros took the lead almost immediately when CF Jordan Schafer redirected Moyer's 6th pitch for a solo home run and a 1-0 lead. LF J.D. Martinez pushed the Rockies' deficit to 3-0 when he blasted a 76 mph Moyer fastball over the left field wall for a two-run homer.

Meanwhile, the Astros' starter, 27-year-old RHP Lucas Harrell, stifled the Rockies offense. Harrell pitched 7.0 innings with 4 strikeouts, no walks and only 3 hits allowed. In the 8th inning, when the Astros had already built a 6-0 lead, the Rockies finally broke through against the Houston bullpen, but a late homer from RF Michael Cuddyer (2 for 4) and triple from SS Troy Tulowitzki (1 for 4) proved insufficient as the Rockies fell by a final score of 7-3.
