Rockies Vs. Pirates: RHP Zach Putnam Will Join Colorado For Wednesday's Doubleheader

Stay connected for news and updates

Weather postponed the first game of the series between the Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday, so they'll play a doubleheader on Wednesday. With the added stress to the pitching staff, the Rockies are bringing in RHP Zach Putnam from triple-A for the twin bill. Putnam will be the 26th man on the active roster, but as Troy Renck notes, there's an exception to the 25-man rule when a doubleheader is involved.

Putnam, who was acquired from Cleveland during the offseason, has a 1.23 ERA in 7-1/3 innings in triple-A this season.
